Thank you for talking about wearing hearing aids! My 10 year old son has worn hearing aids since he was 2-1/2 and got a cochlear implant when he was 3-1/2. I’m always on alert to read about adults with hearing loss and hearing devices.

My daughter is 22 and has worn hearing aids since she was 4. Now she insists on bright hot pink ear molds (the ones that fully fill the ear) so that people can see that she has a hearing impairment. It’s sometimes a struggle to get the provider to do that, so it helps if they work with pediatric patients too (who often use that time of mold).

I don’t wear a hearing aid (yet), but I am deaf in one ear; it means so much to read about Kayla’s experience. The next time I’m in a loud restaurant taking many nervous sips of my drink because I can’t hear the conversation at the table, I won’t feel so alone. Thank you for sharing, Kayla! <333
